Formation Mechanism of Warm SST Anomalies in 2010s Around Hawaii

چکیده

Warm sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies have been observed in the subtropical North Pacific around Hawaii recent decade, appearing from 2013. We examined formation mechanisms of warm SST terms relative contribution atmospheric forcing and oceanic dynamics, using latest reanalysis products ECMWF (ERA5 for atmosphere ORAS5 ocean). Results mixed layer budget diagnosis target area (10–20°N 180°–160°W) indicates that contributions anomalous latent heat fluxes to are dominant. Oceanic advective play a secondary role, dampen anomalies, negatively correlated (r = −0.38) with fluxes. For example, +1.0 K increased 2011 2015 results +1.5 sum flux −0.5 meridional advection. The anti-correlation between advection reflects co-variations wind-driven Ekman due weakening zonal component winds.

A Study of the Impact of Off-Equatorial Warm Pool SST Anomalies on ENSO Cycles

Concurrent with most large El Niño events, cold sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies are observed over the western Pacific warm pool region (WPWP). Observational evidence that SST anomalies that form in the off-equatorial western Pacific during El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) cycles are forced by subsurface ocean processes equatorward of 12°N and air–sea fluxes poleward of 12°N is presen...

Trends in hemispheric warm and cold anomalies

Using a spatial percentile approach, we explore the magnitude of temperature anomalies across the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Linear trends in spatial percentile series are estimated for 1881–2013, the most recent 30 year period (1984–2013), and 1998–2013. All spatial percentiles in both hemispheres show increases from 1881 to 2013, but warming occurred unevenly via modification of cold ...

Analysis of statistics and anomalies of rainfall in Iran during the Warm period(1951-2010)

Investigating the variability of the spatial-temporal pattern of rainfall, which can lead to climate change, due to its strong impact, is of interest to various scientists. For this purpose, after receiving the daily precipitation data of 27 stations for the period of 60 years (2010-1951), its quality and the total monthly precipitation and statistics necessary for the continuation of the resea...
