Formation and weathering assessment of oil-suspended sediment aggregates through a laboratory investigation

چکیده
Formation of oil-suspended sediment aggregates (OSAs) is believed to be one the natural cleaning processes in marine environment. In this study, we have investigated formation OSAs under different mixing periods (continuous and with addition sediments between), oil-sediment ratios (1:1, 1:2 2:1) crude oils (Arabian Light (AL), Kuwait (KW) Murban (MB)). The results revealed that size significantly increased (up ≈ 1.41 mm) sediments. Aggregates (total 36) were extracted for n-alkanes polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons quantify assess their weathering toxic levels. maximum n-alkane depletion was 84% (111-02), 94% (212-02) (321-02) PAH 72% 79% 81% (311-03) AL, KW MB oils, respectively, samples considered, indicating depleted relatively higher than PAHs. highest both PAHs has occurred 10-h continuous mixing. reduced after sediments, however, escalated growth OSAs, resulting bigger OSAs. concentration all 36 greater 5000 ng/g, very high pollution. Though helps spill sites, carcinogenic threat ecosystem caused by these cannot ignored.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

assessment of deep word knowledge in elementary and advanced iranian efl learners: a comparison of selective and productive wat tasks
testing plays a vital role in any language teaching program. it allows teachers and stakeholders, including program administrators, parents, admissions officers and prospective employers to be assured that the learners are progressing according to an accepted standard (douglas, 2010). the problems currently facing language testers have both practical and theoretical implications but the first i...
Investigation of suspended sediment transport using ultrasonic techniques
The results of the initial experimental studies involving the scattering of ultrasonic signals from canonical and nonanonical shaped suspended particles with known elastical qualities are reported. These results have formed the basis for the development of a numerical model for ultrasound propagation through low-concentration suspensions of sand particles.
متن کاملInvestigation of Possibility of Suspended Sediment Prediction Using a Combination of Sediment Rating Curve and Artificial Neural Network Case Study: Ghatorchai River, Yazdakan Bridge
Estimation of sediment loads in rivers is one of the most important, difficult components of sediment transport studies and river engineering. Accessing new methods that can be effective in this background are more important. In this research, we have used the artificial neural network (ANN) to optimize the results of the sediment rating curve (SRC) to predict the suspended sediment loads. For ...
