THE EFFECT OF TI CONTENTS ON THE AMOUNTS OF INCLUSIONS FORMATION AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF C300 HIGH STRENGTH STEEL
In this research the influence of Ti contents on the amounts of inclusions formation and mechanical properties of a high alloy high strength steel, C300, has been investigated. For this purpose several bars were casted under the same solidification conditions, but different amounts of Ti element. All the seven casted bars were homogenized at 1200°C for a period of 2 hours. Then, they were immed...
متن کاملTransformation Plasticity in Steel Weld Metals
Professor Ulrich Dilthey’s passion for the science and technology of joining processes is amply reflected in the enormous archive of published work which will forever serve the community. It is a pleasure therefore to be able to present this small story as a tribute to someone who has been a scholar, a gentleman and a leader in this most difficult of subjects. The matter of our everyday world i...
متن کاملSize distribution of oxides and toughness of steel weld metals
The trend in strong weld metals is towards microstructures dominated by low carbon martensite. The role of oxide particles introduced into the metal during welding then becomes uncertain. The particles do not seem to affect the nucleation or growth of martensite. This is probably because this phase forms at relatively large driving forces and therefore does not rely on heterogeneous nucleation ...

Microstructural characterisation of as-deposited and reheated weld metal — High Strength Steel Weld Metals
The problems encountered with the interpretation of martensite and the various forms of bainite that are found in high strength steel weld metals have been addressed. Field emission gun scanning electron microscopy was found to overcome resolution difficulties often met with light optical microscopy and conventional scanning electron microscopy. The various microstructural constituents were cha...
