چکیده
Abstract We examined timber price trends along the Mississippi roundwood supply chain. Quarterly statewide data from Timber Mart-South for pine sawtimber, pulpwood, mixed hardwood and pulpwood were obtained covering 1992 to 2018. Prices stumpage, delivered logs, conversion—measured as difference between wood stumpage—were analyzed across products 27-year series, well three equally spaced 9-year periods (Period 1, 2000; Period 2, 2001 2009; 3, 2010 2018). Flat prices, increased rates conversion, declining sawtimber stumpage prices revealed over long term. Hardwood product however, their chains. have generally become less volatile, particularly 2 indicating an increasing degree of homogeneity within each product's market. The exception this was suggesting resource, locational, and/or market differences may emerged product. supported, appropriate, considering silvicultural options allow resource's continued growth. Declining expectations call into question any strictly financial rationale extending rotation length.

متن کاملVertical price linkage between timber and forest products prices in the South
Timber market and forest product market are linked and integrated through prices of their own. In this study, the presence of price transmission asymmetry is investigated for wood products sector in southern United States. Threshold cointegration and an asymmetric error correction model are employed to analyze the price dynamics between prices of standing timber, delivered timber and also two r...

F OR ESTER S ROUTINELY ESTIM ATE THE economic potential of a standing forest resource as lumber. It is usual to consider the straightness and size of a tree to estimate gross recovery and the range of lumber products that might be produced. متن کاملNon-timber Forest Products Inventory Perspectives from the United States
Increasing interest in non-timber forest products (NTFPs) has led to their greaterrecognition in sustainable forest management planning. This is evident in local resourcemanagement plans for the Robson Valley in east-central British Columbia, where publicinput shows strong support for the sustainable development of NTFP harvesting. However, information needed to develop sustainab...
متن کاملThe ecological implications of harvesting non-timber forest products
1. The harvest of wild non-timber forest products (NTFP) represents an important source of income to millions of people world-wide. Despite growing concern over the conservation of these species, as well as their potential to foster forest conservation, information on the ecological implications of harvest is available only in disparate case studies. 2. Seventy studies that quantify the ecologi...
