چکیده

In the present study it was evaluated density of recruits in an area previously occupied by Urochloa brizantha pasture undergoing forest restoration and a Semideciduous Forest. Was effect available light on biomass exotic grass, investigated associations recruit with soil variables understory availability. The seed rain both areas also evaluated. U. positively associated and, negative association found between when considering two together. A associatio pH found. results suggest that low fertility did not limited recruitment semideciduos forest. showed high resource availability favors competitivity brizantha, impairing used as pastures. So, pratices result decreasing would pasture.

Mechanisms of Forest Restoration in Landslide Treatment Areas

Reforestation after a landslide facilitates competition between herbaceous plants and arborous plants. Tangible variations in grassland areas in regions susceptible to landslides can only be found within collections of trees. A landslide area in the Sule Watershed was investigated. Relative illuminance results reveal that the Rhodes grass (Chloris gayana Kunth) biomass in this landslide area in...

Use of ESI-FTICR-MS to Characterize Dissolved Organic Matter in Headwater Streams Draining Forest-Dominated and Pasture-Dominated Watersheds

Electrospray ionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (ESI-FTICR-MS) has proven to be a powerful technique revealing complexity and diversity of natural DOM molecules, but its application to DOM analysis in grazing-impacted agricultural systems remains scarce. In the present study, we presented a case study of using ESI-FTICR-MS in analyzing DOM from four headwater...

Beetle assemblages of kahikatea forest fragments in a pasture-dominated landscape

Fragments of kahikatea (Dacrycarpus dacrydioides) forest provide a major opportunity for conservation of indigenous biodiversity in the heavily deforested landscape of the Waikato Basin, New Zealand. However, there is little documented information on what indigenous fauna survives in these fragments. Using Malaise traps set 20 m and 50 m into fragments and 20 m and 50 m into the adjacent pastur...

Young restored forests increase seedling recruitment in abandoned pastures in the Southern Atlantic rainforest.

Planting seedlings is a common technique for abandoned pastures restoration in the tropics, supposedly by increasing the seedling recruitment and accelerating succession. In this study we evaluated the role of a young restored forest (one year old) in enhancing seedling establishment from two sources (seed rain and seed bank), in the Atlantic Rainforest region in Southern Brazil. We compared ab...

Effects of developmental level on forest area changes of rural areas in Arasbaran by satellite images

Livelihood of rural people depends on the use of land and the exploitation of natural resources and forest. Therefore, their activities can have significant effects on these resources. The magnitude of these effects and changes in the level of the forest are affected by the development level of the villages.
