Forcespun polyvinylpyrrolidone/copper and polyethylene oxide/copper composite fibers and their use as antibacterial agents

چکیده

Copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) embedded in polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and polyethylene oxide (PEO) fiber-matrices were prepared through centrifugal spinning of PVP/ethanol PEO/aqueous solutions, respectively. The prime focus the current study is to investigate antibacterial activity composite fibers against Escherichia coli (E. coli) Bacillus cereus (B. cereus) bacteria. During fiber formation, parameters such as spinneret rotational speed, collector distance, relative humidity carefully chosen obtain long continuous fibers. structural morphological analyses both investigated using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis. In test, PVP/Cu PEO/Cu fibrous membranes exhibited inhibition efficiency 99.98% 99.99% E. B. bacteria, Basically, CuNPs well membrane at nanoscale level, which facilitated bacterial functions inactivation chemical structure cells. Such an effective agent obtained from forcespun could be promising candidates for biomedical applications.

Properties of antibacterial polypropylene/nanometal composite fibers.

Melt spinning of polypropylene fibers containing silver and zinc nanoparticles was investigated. The nanometals were generally uniformly dispersed in polypropylene, but aggregation of these materials was observed on fiber surface and in fiber cross-sections. The mechanical properties of the resulted composite fibers with low concentration of nanometal were comparable to those for the control P...

Novel Levofloxacin Derivatives as Potent Antibacterial Agents

In this report, a new series of fluoroquinolone agents which was derived from levofloxacin was synthesized and evaluated against Gram-positive (Bacillus subtillis, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Micrococcus luteus) and Gram-negative (Esherichio coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Serratia marcescens) organisms. The results showed that some of the synth...

Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Novel Quinoline Derivatives as Antibacterial and Antifungal Agents

Vilsmeier Several diamide derivatives containing 2-chloroquinoline scaffolds were synthesized via Ugi reaction of 2-chloroquinoline-3-carboxaldehydes, amines, carboxylic acids and isocyanides. The diversity of these quinolinyl Ugi-adducts was increased by using 2-chloroquinoline-3-carboxylic acids as a source of acid. Among them, compounds 2d, 2n, 2p, 4a, 4c and<strong...

The Prophylactic Use of Acidifiers as Antibacterial Agents in Swine

In recent decades, acidifiers have emerged as viable alternatives to antibiotics in swine diets, in order to stimulate optimal growth performance and prevent various enteric diseases. Antimicrobials have been used for more than 50 years to enhance growth performance and prevent various pig diseases (Gustafson & Bowen, 1997). There is growing public awareness of the relationship between the feed...
