Foods from the wild: A review on the diversity and use pattern of wild edible plants of Arunachal Himalaya for sustainable management

Wild edible plants are extensively used worldwide to supplement food, nutrition and medicine. To find out the present diversity, status utility patterns of wild (WEPS) in biodiversity-rich Indian Eastern Himalayan state Arunachal Pradesh, for purpose plant identification conservation potential species, a systematic review publication was made. A total 662 species belonging 340 genera 124 families mostly form vegetables, fruits, medicines, spices condiments have been reported. These comprise 24 Pteridophytes, 6 Gymnosperms 632 Angiosperms. When Angiosperms put under APG IV classification, Eudicots dominate with 72.65%. Asteraceae represented dominant taxa 36 followed by Urticaceae, Rosaceae, Moraceae Lamiaceae more than 20 each. Based on RFC values as well other inputs, 50 highly preferred having market potentiality identified that can be included various management practices.
