Focal Vibration Therapy: Vibration Parameters of Effective Wearable Devices

Focal vibration therapy can provide neurophysiological benefits. Unfortunately, standardized protocols are non-existent. Previous research presents a wide range of with effectiveness. This paper is part broader effort to identify effective, for focal therapy. In this study, the authors evaluated characteristics (frequency and peak-to-peak intensity) four commercially available devices: (1) Vibracool (wearable), (2) Novafon (hand-held), (3) Myovolt 3-actuator (4) 2-actuator (wearable). An accelerometer was used measurements. Measurements were made under following two conditions: (a) when devices free, i.e., unconstrained vibration, (b) strapped human body, constrained vibration. free condition, frequency ranged from 120 225 Hz amplitude 2.0 7.9 g’s. When body (constrained), decreased by up 65.7%. These results effective ranges amplitude. They illustrate importance identifying environment, or constrained, quoting characteristics. Finally, inconsistency output multi-actuator discussed. will guide protocol development potentially better devices.
