چکیده
Background: The role of fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG-PET/CT) in the surgical approach solitary pulmonary nodule (SPN) is still debated, as increased metabolic avidity lesion was not a sure sign malignancy. purpose this study to evaluate effectiveness 18F-FDG-PET/CT characterization SPN based on analysis most recent data literature.

[Positron emission tomography in the study of solitary pulmonary nodule].
Solitary pulmonary nodules are a major clinical challenge for all doctors involved in their study. The aim is always to avoid missing malignant lesions but also to avoid performing unnecessary diagnostic tests. The most recent research suggests that in the near future chest computed tomography will become even more widely used for the early detection of lung cancer. If this occurs, there is lik...
متن کاملFluorine-18-Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography in Assessing Retroperitoneal Fibrosis: A Literature Review
Background and Purpose. Several studies have evaluated the role of fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography and positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG-PET and PET/CT) in diagnosing and assessing disease activity in patients with retroperitoneal fibrosis (RF). The aim of our paper is to perform a literature review on this topic. Methods. Scientific articles that...
متن کاملFindings on Fluorine-18 Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography in a Patient with Malignant Pheochromocytoma
UNLABELLED Pheochromocytomas are rare tumors arising from chromaffin cells of the sympathoadrenal system and 85% of them are located in the adrenal medulla. Malignant pheochromocytomas account for 10% of all pheochromocytomas. Since clinical, biochemical and histopathological features can not reliably distinguish malignant from benign tumors, malignancy is established in the presence of distant...
متن کاملExtramedullary Plasmacytoma of the Gallbladder Detected on Fluorine 18-fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography
Extramedullary plasmacytoma is rare in patients with diagnosed multiple myeloma. Soft tissue plasmacytoma of the gallbladder is particularly uncommon and has been described in only a handful of cases. Diagnosis of gallbladder plasmacytoma with fluorine 18-fluorodeoxyglucose (F18-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) has not previously been reported. We present a 65-year...
متن کاملEvaluation of the solitary pulmonary nodule by positron emission tomography imaging.
Current noninvasive imaging methods are not sufficiently reliable for accurate detection of malignancy in most solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs). Positron emission tomography (PET) using 18-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG), showing increased FDG uptake and retention in malignant cells, has proved useful to differentiate malignant from benign tissue and could, therefore, contribute to the evaluation of ...
