چکیده

The mathematical and computational modeling of the lubricated contact between bearing surfaces is presented to analyze sliding friction using a realistic 3D model on microscopic scale. fluid–structure interaction evaluates effects lubricant film thickness in hydrodynamic mixed lubrication regimes. Higher pressures are seen at peaks asperities, especially during lubrication, which fluid volume smaller. Calculated coefficients from homogenization procedure shear normal forces close 0.0045 0.014, respectively, were accurate within range specified Stribeck curve. Results demonstrate allows examining rough surfaces.

Tribology of Journal Bearings Subjected to Boundary and Mixed Lubrication

The purpose of this research paper is to examine the tribological characteristics and issues related to journal bearings under boundary and mixed lubrication conditions during shaft startup, shutdown, and low speeds. The key issues and problems related to journal bearings, most notably wear, are discussed as well as the subsequent issues created in the field. The mechanical analysis of the load...

Transition from Boundary Lubrication to Hydrodynamic Lubrication of Slider Bearings

The transition from boundary lubrication to fully hydrodynamic lubrication is investigated for air-lubricated slider bearings using the electrical resistance method. Intermittent contacts are shown to exist even under conditions for which the numerical solution of the Reynolds equation or white light interferometry predicts steady state spacings in the spacing region from 0.125 to 0.25 pm. The ...

Internal Loading Distribution in Statically Loaded Ball Bearings Subjected to a Centric Thrust Load: Numerical Aspects

A known iterative computational procedure is used for internal normal ball loads calculation in statically loaded single-row, angular-contact ball bearings, subjected to a known thrust load, which is applied in the inner ring at the geometric bearing center line. Numerical aspects of the iterative procedure are discussed. Numerical examples results for a 218 angular-contact ball bearing have be...

Internal Loading Distribution in Statically Loaded Ball Bearings Subjected to a Centric Thrust Load: Alternative Approach

An alternative iterative computational procedure is proposed for internal normal ball loads calculation in statically loaded single-row, angular-contact ball bearings, subjected to a known thrust load, which is applied in the inner ring at the geometric bearing center line. An accurate method for curvature radii at contacts with inner and outer raceways in the direction of the motion is used. N...
