چکیده
The imaging of volcanic systems is a challenging topic that attracts the scientific community’s attention. characterization structures and rock properties by means seismic active methods becoming fundamental for providing ultra-high-resolution images interest. Solfatara Volcano quiescent volcano in Campi Flegrei resurgent nested caldera continuously under investigation monitoring its shallow activity, such as fumaroles. purpose this work to characterize fluid accumulation zone first 150 m depth middle crater, using several post-stack attributes Amplitude Versus Offset (AVO) analysis contact between CO 2 condensed water shallower zone. two 400 m-long profiles which we refer have been acquired during Repeated InduCed Earthquakes Noise experiment. were deployed along with NNE-SSW WNW-ESE directions across whole surface crater including main anomalies fumaroles, eastern area, mud-pool Fangaia, located western area. pre-processing, pre-stack processing, previously applied on profile are here performed time profile, while partial-stack AVO both profiles. gain, envelope, energy, root mean square computed extracted determining maximum minimum values amplitude zones migrated Such provided complex geometrical embedding information faults chaotic zones. technique has also used direct gas indicator enhance discrimination identification. Finally, attributes, near-surface structural interpretation related incorporated into proposed analysis. multi-2D image depicts fluids trapped at depths ranging from 10 50 below crater’s surface, well their migration paths up deep: evidenced probably due solfataric alteration minerals, caused arising plume abovecondensed decreases permeability rocks forms an argillic phase working cap-rock trapping gases. application analysis, coupled attribute’s investigation, provides very detailed Volcano, outperforms terms accuracy ones obtained different tools previous works, evidences presence position liquid gases north-east area Volcano.

Progressive approach to eruption at Campi Flegrei caldera in southern Italy
Unrest at large calderas rarely ends in eruption, encouraging vulnerable communities to perceive emergency warnings of volcanic activity as false alarms. A classic example is the Campi Flegrei caldera in southern Italy, where three episodes of major uplift since 1950 have raised its central district by about 3 m without an eruption. Individual episodes have conventionally been treated as indepe...
متن کاملGeochemistry of Melt Inclusions from the Fondo Riccio and Minopoli 1 Eruptions at Campi Flegrei (Italy)
Campi Flegrei is a large volcanic complex located west of the city of Naples, Italy. The area has been the site of volcanic activity for more than 60 ka and represents a potential volcanic hazard owing to the large local population. In this study, the geochemistry of the magma associated with two different eruptions at Campi Flegrei has been characterized, with the aim to identify geochemical t...
متن کاملMagma transfer at Campi Flegrei caldera (Italy) before the 1538 AD eruption
Calderas are collapse structures related to the emptying of magmatic reservoirs, often associated with large eruptions from long-lived magmatic systems. Understanding how magma is transferred from a magma reservoir to the surface before eruptions is a major challenge. Here we exploit the historical, archaeological and geological record of Campi Flegrei caldera to estimate the surface deformatio...
متن کاملHazard assessment during caldera unrest at the Campi Flegrei, Italy: a contribution from gravity–height gradients
Hazard assessment and risk mitigation at restless calderas is only possible with adequate geophysical monitoring. We show here how detailed long-term microgravity and deformation surveys may contribute to hazard assessment at the Campi Flegrei caldera (CFc) in Italy by evaluating gravity–height change (∆g/∆h) gradients obtained during ground inflation and deflation between 1981 and 2001. Such g...
متن کاملThe 5 April 2003 vulcanian explosion at Stromboli volcano (Southern Italy): analysis of seismic data
On 5 April 2003 at 07:13 GMT (09:13 local time) a violent vulcanian explosion occurred at Stromboli volcano. At the time of the event an eruptive crisis was ongoing at the volcano with a lava flow outpouring along the Sciara del Fuoco flank. The seismic signals related to the event were recorded by 8 permanent broadband stations and gives informations about the eruption kinematics. An ultra-lon...
