Flow Characteristics of a Dual-Intake Port Diesel Engine with Guide Vanes

The intake port of a CA4DD diesel engine was investigated by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical simulation to enhance the swirl and improve flow characteristics in engine. uniform design method applied study influence guide vanes with different parameters on process at various valve lifts. Nine vane models were established compared base model using CATIA™ 3D CAD software. Numerical simulations conduct Xflow software based lattice Boltzmann (LBM). distributions streamlines, vorticity, velocity turbulent intensity each cylinder simulated analyzed. results show that ratio greater than 37%, coefficient less 5% model. Scheme 5, H7.5-L50-θ20 (guide height 7.5 mm, length 50 mm angle 20°), provided good performance. optimal verified through steady test. When aspect within ranges 3.5-6.9 12.2°-20.2°, respectively, had best effect maximum lift. This provides theoretical basis for improving performance dual-intake engines.
