Flood Susceptibility Mapping in Gending District by Comparison Frequency Ratio and Weight of Evidence for Mitigation Strategy

Floods are natural disasters that occur all over the world. Gending District in Probolinggo Regency, East Java, is an area often experiences floods and causes various losses. A flood susceptibility map needed to prepare appropriate mitigation actions. Choosing right method will produce a more accurate map. The research aims make by comparing Frequency Ratio (FR) Weight of Evidence (WofE) methods providing recommendations. Six data factors cause flooding used: slope, elevation, land use, normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), curvature, rainfall. obtained were processed using FR WofE methods, which then validated Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) method. validation value calculated ROC chart's Area Under Curve (AUC). higher AUC value, better. study's results revealed correct for making was with 92.8%, while 90.4%. illustrates 14% very high flood-prone zones, 23% moderate zone, 63% safe zone. strategy based on highest creating drainage networks, green open spaces, normalizing rivers residential areas, implementing selective logging reforestation programs. this study used reduce impact risk future disasters.
