Flood hazard modelling using HEC-RAS in the Pathariya Khola, far-western Nepal

Flood hazards are a common problem in flat-lying areas, particularly southern Nepal due to heavy precipitation and the consequent large transportation of sediments from hilly regions. Bank erosion, flooding, inundation, sedimentation major problems plain area Kailali District along riverbanks Pathariya Khola, which is located on flanks Churia Range. The study has been focused flood vulnerability evaluation. river discharge was calculated by WECS/DHM method frequency various return periods analysed using HEC-RAS, RAS-Mapper, geographic information system (GIS) for hazard modelling delineate flood-prone areas. zones were categorized as moderate (26.29%), high (39.59%), very (34.12%) based computed water depths peak floods. agricultural land most vulnerable flooding followed built-up results have revealed that areas ever-expanding with increased levels different periods.
