چکیده

A three-dimensional direct numerical simulation database of an open turbulent jet spray flame representing a laboratory-scale burner configuration has been analyzed to investigate self-interactions (FSIs) in the presence flow induced shear, best authors' knowledge, for first time. The FSI occurrences [i.e., unburned gas mixture pockets (UBGPs), tunnel formations (TFs), closures (TCs), and burned (BGPs)] have identified across at different axial locations. It found that interplays between turbulence, droplet evaporation, chemistry significant influence on topological nature surface. Close exit, events are occur toward side flame, but moving further away from there within where increasingly fuel-rich, low Damkohler number conditions occur. In this study, be predominantly TFs TCs, which is consistent with previous analyses premixed flames combustion droplet-laden mixtures. However, non-negligible UBGPs BGPs also observed case. results obtained analysis important implications modeling perspective topologies surface, will, turn, affect flame-surface based approaches. Accordingly, findings current may need accounted during development surface-based context flames.

Flame Interactions in Turbulent Premixed Twin V-flames

Multiple flame-flame interactions in premixed combustion are investigated using Direct Numerical Simulations of twin turbulent V-flames for a range of turbulence intensities and length scales. Interactions are identified using a novel Automatic Feature Extraction (AFE) technique, based on data registration using the Dual-Tree Complex Wavelet Transform. Information on the time, position and type...

Application of a Flame Dictionary Method in Turbulent Premixed Flame Modeling. Construction of a Flame Dictionary

|The construction of a ame dictionary of ame speeds and preheat thicknesses for a given reaction will be discussed. Once the entries of the dictionary have been established, they can be accessed by researchers and programmers to be used in diierent combustion applications. An application of the ame dictionary for turbulent combustion in a circular cylinder is given. Chemical reactions are often...

An LES/PDF study of a turbulent lifted ethylene jet flame in a heated coflow

We report a large-eddy simulation (LES)/probability density function (PDF) modeling study of a turbulent lifted ethylene jet flame in a heated air coflow, using a 22-species reduced chemical mechanism. In this flame, the central ethylene jet is ignited by the heated coflow, and the lifted jet flame base stabilization reaches a statistically stationary state. In this LES/PDF study, the filtered ...

Radiation modeling of a turbulent diffusion flame in diesel engine

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of radiation heat transfer on temperature distribution and heat flux to the walls of a diesel engine. A diffusion flame is modeled in a simple cylindrical geometry and boundary conditions are defined. A specific solver which can model the turbulent diffusion flame by considering radiation in participating media is used to solve the problem....

Flame-generated Vorticity Production in Premixed Flame-vortex Interactions

INTRODUCTION Theoretical analysis, experimental observations, and numerical simulations have all indicated that flame-vortex interactions play an important role in the propagation and extinguishment of turbulent flames in microgravity [1]. Most studies of flame-vortex interactions ignore the effects of gravity and experiments are usually conducted in Earth gravity. Recently, Sinibaldi et al. [2...
