First-year experience of SBRT/IMRT treatment using a novel biology guided radiotherapy machine

PurposeTo present the first-year experience of treating patients using intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and stereotactic body (SBRT) with biology-guided (BgRT) machine, X1 system, installed in a clinical setting.MethodsA total 78 were treated on system IMRT SBRT from May 2021 to 2022. Clinical technical data including treatment sites, number pre-treatment kilovoltage computed tomography (kVCT) scans, beam time, patient setup imaging time collected analyzed. Machine quality assurance (QA) results, machine performance, user satisfactory survey also reported.ResultsThe most commonly site was head neck (63%), followed by pelvis (23%), abdomen (8%), thorax (6%). Except for five (6%) who received treatments bony metastases, all conventionally fractionated IMRT. With recent FDA clearance BgRT, our department preparing treat PET-guidance via new product release, which will address deficiencies current IGRT workflow.
