چکیده

In Bangladesh, citrus is an important fruit crop that becoming more commonly cultivated in commercial plantations. March 2019, we observed yellowing, vein clearing, and mild mosaic symptoms citron (Citrus medica). Based on systematic serological molecular analyses of the symptomatic leaf samples, Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) was identified. To best our knowledge, this first report CTV any Bangladesh.

Citrus tristeza virus-host interactions

Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) is a phloem-limited virus whose natural host range is restricted to citrus and related species. Although the virus has killed millions of trees, almost destroying whole industries, and continually limits production in many citrus growing areas, most isolates are mild or symptomless in most of their host range. There is little understanding of how the virus causes sev...

The Complex Genetics of Citrus tristeza virus

The 2000 x 11 nm long bipolar flexuous filamentous particles of Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) (genus Closterovirus, family Closteroviridae) (Figure 1) contain a single-stranded positive-sense RNA genome of 19.3 kb, which is encapsidated in two different capsid proteins that coat the opposite ends of the virions [1, 2]. CTV is the largest identified RNA virus infecting plants and the second larges...

Emergence and Phylodynamics of Citrus tristeza virus in Sicily, Italy

Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) outbreaks were detected in Sicily island, Italy for the first time in 2002. To gain insight into the evolutionary forces driving the emergence and phylogeography of these CTV populations, we determined and analyzed the nucleotide sequences of the p20 gene from 108 CTV isolates collected from 2002 to 2009. Bayesian phylogenetic analysis revealed that mild and severe C...
