چکیده
This study provides the first report of an egg nursery for Critically Endangered flapper skate Dipturus intermedius and a description habitat, thus contributing towards our understanding essential habitats species. In total, 1,395 cases were recorded (accounting overlapping surveys) in two case collection dives (n = 67 cases), one photogrammetry dive 10 509 drop-down video (DDV) camera drifts 510 cases) 18 remote operated vehicle (ROV) flights 1,031 carried out Inner Sound on west coast Scotland from 2018 to 2021. All found shallow bedrock plateau between Isle Scalpay deep (>100 m) water channel Longay Crowlin Islands. Egg observed cobble/boulder reef 25 58 m depth, with modelled annual temperature range 9–12 °C, current speeds up 0.2 m?1, rugosity index 1.7 low levels sedimentation. Flapper are large incubation period is protracted (18 months), making them potentially vulnerable anthropogenic disturbance. A habitat where this will help inform search nurseries species elsewhere. Targeted DDV, ROV scuba diving surveys support areas suitable bathymetric hydrodynamic conditions identified. Safeguarding successful conservation. Protection should involve designation as Marine Protected Areas activities that likely damage or alter seabed managed.

Morphological and molecular evidence for a new species of longnose skate (Rajiformes: Rajidae: Dipturus) from Argentinean waters based on DNA barcoding
A new species of Dipturus is described from ten specimens collected off Patagonia, Argentina. Morphological and molecular approaches were used to compare among specimens of recognized Dipturus species. By comparing morphometric, meristic and mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase I (COI) sequence data, specimens referred to as longnose skate and originally regarded as D. chilensis were shown to be ...

A pilot study targeting sawfishes in the southern Pilbara region of Western Australia, which is undergoing a major expansion in human activity, was conducted using gillnets during April and October 2011 in the Ashburton Estuary and adjacent mangrove creeks. Catch per unit effort was greatest in the Ashburton Estuary in October, due to an influx of green sawfish Pristis zijsron pups, and was ord...
