First FT-Raman and H NMR comparative investigations in ring opening metathesis polymerization
Kinetics of ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of exo,exo-5,6-di(methoxycarbonyl)-7oxabicyclo[2.2.1]hept-2-ene, promoted by the Grubbs’ 1st generation precatalyst, has been effectively monitored by FT-Raman and NMR spectroscopy. Both techniques evidenced similar monomer conversions to be attained under the same reaction conditions. The present FT-Raman study provided information on t...
متن کاملAlcohol-promoted ring-opening alkyne metathesis polymerization.
Alcohol is the answer! An inactive, air-stable, dimeric molybdenum alkylidyne complex is activated toward ring-opening alkyne metathesis polymerization (ROAMP) by the addition of methanol. The ROAMP is compatible with water and phenol-containing substrates and with the in situ photochemical generation of alkyne monomers from cyclopropenones.
متن کاملCatalytic living ring-opening metathesis polymerization.
In living ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP), a transition-metal-carbene complex polymerizes ring-strained olefins with very good control of the molecular weight of the resulting polymers. Because one molecule of the initiator is required for each polymer chain, however, this type of polymerization is expensive for widespread use. We have now designed a chain-transfer agent (CTA) cap...
متن کاملSupported Catalysts Useful in Ring-Closing Metathesis, Cross Metathesis, and Ring-Opening Metathesis Polymerization
Ruthenium and molybdenum catalysts are widely used in synthesis of both small molecules and macromolecules. While major developments have led to new increasingly active catalysts that have high functional group compatibility and stereoselectivity, catalyst/product separation, catalyst recycling, and/or catalyst residue/product separation remain an issue in some applications of these catalysts. ...
متن کاملPolyterpenes by ring opening metathesis polymerization of caryophyllene and humulene
Polymers with their myriad functions are indispensable to any modern technology. Today, their production is largely based on fossil fuels. In view of their limited range, other sources are desirable on the long term. Beyond such considerations, renewable resources are also attractive as they can contain unique chemical structures. Thus, carbohydrates, fatty acids or terpenes contain a wealth of...
