Molecular surveillance of hepatitis A virus in Argentina: first subgenotype IB detected in a traveler.
By using molecular surveillance of hepatitis A virus, we characterized for the first time a subgenotype IB imported case in Argentina, a country with universal vaccination since 2005. The case was a crew member of a cruise ship. We consider this a case alert because of its multiple implications.
متن کاملFirst Evidence of Simultaneous Circulation of Three Different Dengue Virus Serotypes in Africa
Gabon, in Central Africa, was affected for the first time in 2007 and then in 2010 by simultaneous outbreaks of chikungunya and Dengue serotype 2 (DENV-2) viruses. Through the national surveillance of dengue-like syndromes between 2007 and 2010, we observed continuous circulation of DENV-2 in a southward movement. This rapid spread of DENV-2 was associated with the emergence of DENV-1 in 2007 a...
متن کاملDistinctive sequence characteristics of subgenotype A1 isolates of hepatitis B virus from South Africa.
Phylogenetic analysis of hepatitis B virus (HBV) has led to its classification into eight genotypes, A to H. The dominant genotype in South Africa is genotype A, which consists of two subgenotypes, A1 and A2. Subgenotype A1 (previously subgroup A') predominates over subgenotype A2 (previously subgroup A minus A'). The complete genome of HBV isolated from 18 asymptomatic carriers of the virus an...

of age. Sex was not significantly associated (mean male to female sex ratio was 32.4:18 for S. typhi and 15.8:10.6 for S. paratyphi A). S. typhi has become increasingly sensitive to amoxycillin, chloramphenicol, and gentamicin, increasing from 75.1% in 1994 to 96.6% in 1998 for amoxycillin, from 71.9% in 1994 to 91.6% in 1998 for chloramphenicol, and from 96.4% to 100% for gentamicin. S. paraty...
متن کاملSubgenotype reclassification of genotype B hepatitis B virus
BACKGROUND Nine subgenotypes from genotype B have been identified for hepatitis B virus (HBV). However, these subgenotypes were less conclusive as they were often designated based on a few representative strains. In addition, subgenotype B6 was designated twice for viruses of different origin. METHODS All complete genome sequences of genotype B HBV were phylogenetically analyzed. Sequence div...
