First dinosaur remains from Ireland

چکیده

Several specimens from the Lias Group (Lower Jurassic) of Northern Ireland have been suspected as dinosaurian in origin. Bone histology and morphology demonstrates that two these, both same locality Co. Antrim, demonstrably are dinosaurs. We interpret one proximal end left femur a basal thyreophoran ornithischian, tentatively assign it to cf. Scelidosaurus. The other is part tibia an indeterminate neotheropod, perhaps member averostran-line similar Sarcosaurus, or megalosauroid. These first dinosaur remains reported anywhere some most westerly Europe, they among only small number dinosaurs known Hettangian Stage. Two additional no longer considered be surangular mandible fragment large marine reptile, ichthyosaur pliosaur; polygonal Paleocene basalt.

First Dinosaur Tracks from the Arabian Peninsula

BACKGROUND The evolutionary history of Mesozoic terrestrial vertebrates from the Arabian Peninsula is virtually unknown. Despite vast exposures of rocky outcrops, only a handful of fossils have yet been described from the region. Here we report a multi-taxon dinosaur track assemblage near Madar village, 47 km north of Sana'a, Republic of Yemen. This represents the first dinosaur tracksite from ...

First spinosaurid dinosaur from Australia and the cosmopolitanism of Cretaceous dinosaur faunas.

A cervical vertebra from the Early Cretaceous of Victoria represents the first Australian spinosaurid theropod dinosaur. This discovery significantly extends the geographical range of spinosaurids, suggesting that the clade obtained a near-global distribution before the onset of Pangaean fragmentation. The combined presence of spinosaurid, neovenatorid, tyrannosauroid and dromaeosaurid theropod...

Predatory dinosaur remains from madagascar: implications for the cretaceous biogeography of gondwana

Recent discoveries of fossil vertebrates from the Late Cretaceous of Madagascar include several specimens of a large theropod dinosaur. One specimen includes a nearly complete and exquisitely preserved skull with thickened pneumatic nasals, a median frontal horn, and a dorsal projection on the parietals. The new materials are assigned to the enigmatic theropod group Abelisauridae on the basis o...

The first well-preserved coelophysoid theropod dinosaur from Asia.

Coelophysoid dinosaurs represent the earliest major radiation of neotheropods. These small-to-medium-sized agile bipeds lived throughout much of Pangaea during the Late Triassic-arly Jurassic. Previously reported coelophysoid material from Asia (excluding the Gondwanan territory of India) is limited to two specimens that comprise only limb fragments. This paper describes a new genus and species...

First postcranial remains of Multituberculata (Allotheria, Mammalia) from Gondwana

Multituberculates (Allotheria) are generally regarded as the evolutionarily most successful and longestlived (Middle Jurassic to late Eocene) clade of Mesozoic and early Paleogene mammals. Despite this “reputation” and the fact that the group is particularly well represented in both taxonomic diversity and relative abundance on Laurasian landmasses during the Cretaceous and Paleocene, multitube...
