چکیده
Abstract The aim of this work is to propose a provably convergent finite volume scheme for the so-called Stefan–Maxwell model, which describes evolution composition multi-component mixture and reads as cross-diffusion system. proposed here relies on two-point flux approximation, preserves at discrete level some fundamental theoretical properties continuous models, namely non-negativity solutions, conservation mass preservation volume-filling constraints. In addition, satisfies entropy–entropy dissipation relation, very close relation that holds level. article, we present together with its numerical analysis, finally illustrate behaviour results.

Finite Element Methods for Convection Diffusion Equation
This paper deals with the finite element solution of the convection diffusion equation in one and two dimensions. Two main techniques are adopted and compared. The first one includes Petrov-Galerkin based on Lagrangian tensor product elements in conjunction with streamlined upwinding. The second approach represents Bubnov/Petrov-Galerkin schemes based on a new group of exponential elements. It ...
متن کاملThe bulk-surface finite element method for reaction–diffusion systems on stationary volumes
In this work we present the bulk-surface finite element method (BSFEM) for solving coupled systems of bulk-surface reaction–diffusion equations (BSRDEs) on stationary volumes. Such systems of coupled bulk-surface partial differential equations arise naturally in biological applications and fluid dynamics, for example, in modelling of cellular dynamics in cell motility and transport and diffusio...
متن کاملLecture 10: Finite Volumes
As we have seen in the previous lectures, FD are very intuitive but lack flexibility and accuracy towards complex geiometries. FEM solve the problem very effectively, but at the cost of a significant computational burden. As we shall see, the FVM offers a very effective intermediate strategy between the two. In this lecture we shall describe the main ideas behind the Finite Volume (FV) method, ...
متن کاملTransport System Effects On Cross Diffusion
Cross diffusion is a phenomena in which a gradient in the concentration of one species induces a flux of another chemical species which was generally been neglected in the study of reaction-diffusion systems. We study the Turing bifurcation of two species reaction transport systems, where particle dispersal is governed by diffusion and cross diffusion. we performed linear stability analysis to ...
