Finite-time two-spin quantum Otto engines: Shortcuts to adiabaticity vs. irreversibility

نویسندگان

چکیده

We propose a quantum Otto cycle in two spin-1/2 anisotropic XY model transverse external magnetic field. first characterize the parameter regime that working medium operates as an engine adiabatic regime. Then, we consider finite-time behavior of with and without utilizing shortcut to adiabaticity (STA) technique. STA schemes guarantee dynamics system follows path, at expense introducing control. compare performance nonadiabatic engines for fixed efficiency but different parameters medium. observe that, certain regimes, irreversibility, measured by lags, due driving is so low performs quite close engine, leaving only marginally better than one. This suggests designing Hamiltonian one may spare difficulty dealing control protocol.

Scaling-Up Quantum Heat Engines Efficiently via Shortcuts to Adiabaticity

The finite-time operation of a quantum heat engine that uses a single particle as a working medium generally increases the output power at the expense of inducing friction that lowers the cycle efficiency. We propose to scale up a quantum heat engine utilizing a many-particle working medium in combination with the use of shortcuts to adiabaticity to boost the nonadiabatic performance by elimina...

Entangled quantum Otto heat engines based on two-spin systems with the Dzyaloshinski-Moriya interaction

We construct an entangled quantum Otto engine based on spin-1/2 systems undergoing Dzyaloshinski–Moriya (DM) interaction within a varying magnetic field. We investigate the influence of the DM interaction on basic thermodynamic quantities, including heat transfer, work done, and efficiency and find that the DM interaction importantly influences the engine's thermodynamics. We obtain an expressi...

Shortcuts to adiabaticity in a time-dependent box

A method is proposed to drive an ultrafast non-adiabatic dynamics of an ultracold gas trapped in a time-dependent box potential. The resulting state is free from spurious excitations associated with the breakdown of adiabaticity, and preserves the quantum correlations of the initial state up to a scaling factor. The process relies on the existence of an adiabatic invariant and the inversion of ...

Boosting work characteristics and overall heat-engine performance via shortcuts to adiabaticity: quantum and classical systems.

Under a general framework, shortcuts to adiabatic processes are shown to be possible in classical systems. We study the distribution function of the work done on a small system initially prepared at thermal equilibrium. We find that the work fluctuations can be significantly reduced via shortcuts to adiabatic processes. For example, in the classical case, probabilities of having very large or a...
