Finite size effects of a pion matrix element
We investigate finite size effects of the pion matrix element of the nonsinglet, twist-2 operator corresponding to the average momentum of nonsinglet quark densities. Using the quenched approximation, they come out to be surprisingly large when compared to the finite size effects of the pion mass. As a consequence, simulations of corresponding nucleon matrix elements could be affected by finite...
متن کاملFinite Element Matrix Generation on a Gpu
This paper presents an efficient technique for fast generation of sparse systems of linear equations arising in computational electromagnetics in a finite element method using higher order elements. The proposed approach employs a graphics processing unit (GPU) for both numerical integration and matrix assembly. The performance results obtained on a test platform consisting of a Fermi GPU (1x T...
متن کاملFinite element modeling of polymer matrix nano-composites reinforced by nano-cylindrical fillers
A new three-dimensional unit cell model has been developed for modeling three constituent phases including inclusion, interphase and matrix. The total elastic modulus of nano-composite is evaluated. Numerical results are in good agreement with the previous proposed theoretical modeling. Higher matrix and inclusion elastic modulus both can dramatically influence the total elastic modulus.
متن کاملFinite Element Modeling of Strain Rate and Grain Size Dependency in Nanocrystalline Materials
Nanocrystalline materials show a higher strain-rate sensitivity in contrast to the conventional coarse-grained materials and a different grain size dependency. To explain these phenomenon, a finite element model is constructed that considers both grain interior and grain boundary deformation of nanocrystalline materials. The model consist of several crystalline cores with different orientations...
متن کاملFinite - Element Lattice Hamiltonian Matrix Elements
The finite-element approach to lattice field theory is both highly accurate (relative errors ∼ 1/N2, where N is the number of lattice points) and exactly unitary (in the sense that canonical commutation relations are exactly preserved at the lattice sites). In this paper we construct matrix elements for the time evolution operator for the anharmonic oscillator, for which the continuum Hamiltoni...
