Finite-size effects in dynamics of zero-range processes.
The finite-size effects prominent in zero-range processes exhibiting a condensation transition are studied by using continuous-time Monte Carlo simulations. We observe that, well above the thermodynamic critical point, both static and dynamic properties display fluidlike behavior up to a density ρc(L), which is the finite-size counterpart of the critical density ρc=ρc(L→∞). We determine this de...
متن کاملDynamics of condensation in zero-range processes
The dynamics of a class of zero-range processes exhibiting a condensation transition in the stationary state is studied. The system evolves in time starting from a random disordered initial condition. The analytical study of the large-time behaviour of the system in its mean-field geometry provides a guide for the numerical study of the one-dimensional version of the model. Most qualitative fea...
متن کاملMeta-stability and Condensed Zero-range Processes on Finite Sets
We propose a definition o meta-stability and obtain sufficient conditions for a sequence of Markov processes on finite state spaces to be metastable. In the reversible case, these conditions reduce to estimates of the capacity and the measure of certain meta-stable sets. We prove that a class of condensed zero-range processes with asymptotically decreasing jump rates is meta-stable.
متن کاملMacroscopic Finite Size Effects in Relaxational Processes
We present results on dynamical processes that exhibit a stretched exponential relaxation. When the relaxation is a result of two competing exponential processes, the size of the system, although macroscopic, play a dominant role. There exist a crossover time t× that depends logarithmically on the size of the system, above which, the relaxation changes from a stretched exponential to a simple e...
متن کاملZero-range processes with multiple condensates: statics and dynamics
The steady-state distributions and dynamical behaviour of zero-range processes with hopping rates which are non-monotonic functions of the site occupation are studied. We consider two classes of non-monotonic hopping rates. The first results in a condensed phase containing a large (but subextensive) number of mesocondensates each containing a subextensive number of particles. The second results...
