conjugate factorizations of finite groups
in this paper we illustrate recent results about factorizations of finite groups into conjugate subgroups. the illustrated results are joint works with john cannon, dan levy, attila mar'oti and iulian i. simion.
متن کاملPairwise non-commuting elements in finite metacyclic $2$-groups and some finite $p$-groups
Let $G$ be a finite group. A subset $X$ of $G$ is a set of pairwise non-commuting elements if any two distinct elements of $X$ do not commute. In this paper we determine the maximum size of these subsets in any finite non-abelian metacyclic $2$-group and in any finite non-abelian $p$-group with an abelian maximal subgroup.
متن کاملConjugate Graphs of Finite Groups
In this paper we introduce the conjugate graph ΓG associated to a nonabelian group G with vertex set G\Z(G) such that two distinct vertices join by an edge if they are conjugate. We show if ΓG ∼= ΓS , where S is a finite nonabelian simple group which satisfy Thompson’s conjecture, then G ∼= S. Further, if central factors of two nonabelian groups H and G are isomorphic and |Z(G)| = |Z(H)|, then ...
متن کاملElements with Square Roots in Finite Groups
In this paper, we study the probability that a randomly chosen element in a finite group has a square root, in particular the simple groups of Lie type of rank 1, the sporadic finite simple groups and the alternating groups.
متن کاملComplex hyperbolic free groups with many parabolic elements
We consider in this work representations of the of the fundamental group of the 3-punctured sphere in PU(2, 1) such that the boundary loops are mapped to PU(2, 1). We provide a system of coordinates on the corresponding representation variety, and analyse more specifically those representations corresponding to subgroups of (3, 3,∞)-groups. In particular we prove that it is possible to construc...
