چکیده

Abstract The use of glued finger joint in green wood, directly from the sawing process, would open possibility to obtain timber small-sized achieving an efficient original raw material. gluing finger-jointed with moisture content above fibre saturation point, may improve efficiency and manufacturing process glulam or joinery. This be especially beneficial for a hardwood such as Eucalyptus globulus L., which is globally important forest resource, but challenging wood dry. article presents study on develop joints state. To compare them, conventional dry solid boards without end were also manufactured. Cold-setting fast-curing commercial one-component polyurethane adhesive systems used. Finger-jointed samples tested determine mean characteristic values (5th percentile) density, bending strength modulus elasticity, results analysed discussed. Green-glued showed no statistically significant differences compared improved properties respect dry-glued joints.

Supercritical carbon dioxide extraction of lipids from Eucalyptus globulus wood.

Various typical lipid components of wood extractives have been isolated from Eucalyptus globulus wood by supercritical carbon dioxide modified with methanol. The influence of various extraction parameters on the yield and qualitative composition of the extracts have been studied. The extracts were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and compared with those obtained by Soxhlet extra...

Genetic Variation in the Chemical Components of Eucalyptus globulus Wood

Despite the ecological and economic importance of lignin and other wood chemical components, there are few studies of the natural genetic variation that exists within plant species and its adaptive significance. We used models developed from near infra-red spectroscopy to study natural genetic variation in lignin content and monomer composition (syringyl-to-guaiacyl ratio [S/G]) as well as cell...

Eucalyptus globulus wood fractionation by autohydrolysis and organosolv delignification.

This work provides an assessment on the fractionation of Eucalyptus globulus wood by sequential stages of autohydrolysis (to cause the solubilization of hemicelluloses) and organosolv pulping (to dissolve lignin, leaving solids enriched in cellulose). With this approach, valuable products (hemicellulose-derived saccharides, sulphur-free lignin fragments and cellulosic substrates with low conten...

Wound wood formation in Eucalyptus globulus and Eucalyptus nitens: anatomy and chemistry

The wound-associated wood that developed 17 months following artificial xylem injury in Eucalyptus globulus (Labill) and Eucalyptus nitens (Maiden) was examined anatomically and chemically. This new tissue located immediately adjacent to the wound site and termed “wound wood” was highly variable consisting of callus, altered wood of increased parenchyma density, and dark extractives, visible to...
