Fine Points of Marker-Assisted Pyramiding of Anthocyanin Biosynthesis Regulatory Genes for the Creation of Black-Grained Bread Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Lines

چکیده

Enrichment of grains with anthocyanins is considered a feasible approach to improving the nutritional properties bread wheat. Here, two black-grained substitution lines either 4B or 4D chromosomes substituted by wheatgrass (Thinopyrum ponticum) 4Th were created via marker-assisted combining anthocyanin biosynthesis regulatory genes Pp-1, Pp3 (Purple pericarp), and Ba1 (Blue aleurone) in genetics background cv. Saratovskaya 29. The black manifested simultaneous accumulation aleurone, pericarp layers resulted highest total content (TAC), which amounted approximately sum TACs purple blue grains. 4Th(4B) had long trichomes on leaves, whereas 4Th(4D) did not differ from parental Despite chromosome having positive effect main spike length, other yield-related traits (grain weight per spike, number plant, 1000-grain weight) decreased substitution. developed together ones constitute valuable model for comparative studies genetic stock breeding commercial wheat cultivars featuring high levels

Single-nucleotide polymorphism frequency in a set of selected lines of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.).

Information on single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in hexaploid bread wheat is still scarce. The goal of this study was to detect SNPs in wheat and examine their frequency. Twenty-six bread wheat lines from different origins worldwide were used. Specific PCR-products were obtained from 21 genes and directly sequenced. SNPs were discovered from the alignment of these sequences. The overall se...

Cold Hardiness in Near Isogenic Lines of Bread Wheat (Triticum Aestivum L. em. Thell.)

Low temperature (LT) is one of the most abiotic stresses causing loss of yield in wheat (T. aestivum). Four major genes in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) with the dominant alleles designated Vrn–A1,Vrn–B1,Vrn–D1 and Vrn4, are known to have large effects on the vernalization response, but the effects on cold hardiness are ambiguous. Poor cold tolerance has restricted winter wheat production in reg...

Characterization and Expression of High Temperature Stress Responsive Genes in Bread Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

To elucidate the effects of high temperatures, wheat plants (Triticum aestivum cv. CPAN 1676) were given heat shocks at 37°C and 42°C for two hours, and responsive genes were identified through PCR-Select Subtraction technology. Four subtractive cDNA libraries, including three forward and one reverse subtraction, were constructed from three different developmental stages. A total of 5500 ESTs w...

Novel Structural and Functional Motifs in cellulose synthase (CesA) Genes of Bread Wheat (Triticum aestivum, L.)

Cellulose is the primary determinant of mechanical strength in plant tissues. Late-season lodging is inversely related to the amount of cellulose in a unit length of the stem. Wheat is the most widely grown of all the crops globally, yet information on its CesA gene family is limited. We have identified 22 CesA genes from bread wheat, which include homoeologs from each of the three genomes, and...

stability performance of bread wheat (triticum aestivum l.) lines

the primary aim of plant breeding is to improve stability in yield and to obtain varieties with good quality. for this reason, a study of wheat varieties was conducted in 2010, 2011, and 2012 at the agricultural application and research center fields of the uludag university, agricultural faculty, in bursa/turkey. in the study, 22 advanced lines of bread wheat and gonen, pehlivan, and flamura c...
