Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology of Secretory Carcinoma of the Parotid Gland in a Young Patient

Secretory carcinoma (SC) is a rare recently described entity that has characteristics similar to those of secretory breast carcinoma. We report case 23 years old male with swelling on the parotid gland. The ultrasonography guided fine needle aspiration cytology was performed mass. Cytologically, background aspirate composed inflammatory cells admixed mucinous material. There were isolated as much loosely cohesive clusters making papillary follicle-like glands eosinophilic material in lumen. Tumor medium-sized round shape and eccentric nuclei prominent nucleoli, remarkably vacuolated cytoplasm. parotidectomy pathology revealed SC. Histologically, tumor microcystic, follicular, micropapillary areas. cytoplasm usually also clear appearance. Immunohistochemically, labeled S100, MUC-4. At 5 years, patient disease-free under regular follow-up.
