Filtering GRACE temporal gravity field solutions using ensemble empirical mode decomposition approach

Due to the strong noise that exists in GRACE (Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment) temporal gravity field solutions, geophysical signals are normally drowned which need many effective filtering approaches. Considering advantage of ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) approach, we used EEMD filter this study together with (EMD) for comparisons. EMD method is a spectrum analysis method, very non-stationary signals. process essentially means It has been applied fields recent years. characteristics spherical harmonic coefficient model level higher increasing degree, divided solutions into two parts (degrees 2–28 degrees 29–60) based on ratios latitude-weighted root mean square (RMS) over land ocean when adopting different truncated degrees. For real solution experiments, results show fitting errors approach always smaller than those RMS ratio 3.45, larger 3.40 EMD. The simulation latitude weighted EMD, indicating can extract more accurately. Therefore, it reasonable conclude performs better solutions.
