Field-controlling patterns of sheared ferrofluid droplets

We investigate how ferrofluid droplets suspended in a wall-bounded shear flow can organise when subjected to an external magnetic field. By tuning the magnitude of field, we find that form chain-like structures direction field is weak, while forming crystal-like pattern strong provide phase diagram and critical conditions for this chain-to-crystal transition, by applying both numerical simulations analytic calculations. also examine organised patterns be controlled simply changing This work demonstrates new aspects field-controllable as configurable reprocessable metamaterial.
