Fiber alignment angles effect on the tensile performance of laminated bamboo lumber

For better application of laminated bamboo lumber (LBL) in construction industry, the tensile performance LBL was studied by conducting tension test on specimens with seven different fiber alignment angles, each angle containing 30 specimens. All only experienced elastic stage before brittle failure four types. With increasing angle, strength, modulus, and ultimate strain decreased rapidly from 0° to 30°, while they almost remained constant after 45°. Hankinson’s formula (n = 1.75) can be used predict strength LBL. An empirical equation proposed modulus The Poisson’s ratio increased peaked at 15° declining. Based stress–strain coordinate transformation, relation between shear properties studied; calculated an proposed, which could obtain for engineering use.
