FG-PFC: A Fine-Grained PFC Mechanism for Lossless RDMA

Abstract Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) is widely deployed in data centers to improve the performance, efficiency, and reliability of centers. Priority-based Flow Control (PFC) can ensure no packet loss as a necessary approach achieve lossless RDMA. However, since PFC coarse-grained flow control mechanism based on port priority, it cause head-of-line blocking problem affect other flows, resulting high latency. In this paper, we propose fine-grained (FG-PFC), which refines priority into granularity further determines pauses most likely congestion. The benefit reducing persistent occupancy buffer protecting innocent flow. Simulations experiments demonstrate that FG-PFC outperforms terms completion time (FCT).
