Fertility and Household Welfare in Nigeria: A Time Series Econometric Approach

چکیده
This study examines the effect of fertility levels on household welfare in Nigeria during period from 1980 to 2020. Using data World Development Indicators for 2021, estimation process began with a unit root test stationarity variables. A bounds cointegration showed presence long-run relationship between consumption expenditure and fertility, but result was inconclusive when real GDP per capita used as proxy. The ARDL model employed results that had negative, significant only short run. previous years thereby showing lagged effect. However, is measured using capita, there were both short-run effects, such Kuznets’ hypothesis an inverted U-shaped obtained In long run, however, becomes U-shaped, implying possibility demographic dividend Fertility policies must endeavor control immediate or negative effects rising rates make deliberate plans engage future large working population order reap possible dividend.

A Time Series Approach to Econometric Models of Taiwan’s Economy
Using quarterly Taiwan economic data, we demonstrate that deeper understanding of relations between variables and substantial gains in forecasting can be obtained by applying econometric and statistical tools to the traditional macroeconometric models. The improvement in forecasting accuracy is illustrated by outof-sample forecasts, and the models employed in the comparison include univariate t...

متن کاملBerry-Esseen bounds for econometric time series
We derive uniform and non–uniform error bounds in the normal approximation under a general dependence assumption. Our method is tailor made for dynamic time series models employed in the econometric literature but it is also applicable for many other dependent processes. Neither stationarity nor any smoothness conditions of the underlying distributions are required. If the introduced weak depen...
متن کاملEmpirical Limits for Time Series Econometric Models
This paper seeks to characterize empirically achievable limits for time series econometric modeling. The approach involves the concept of minimal information loss in time series regression and the paper shows how to derive bounds that delimit the proximity of empirical measures to the true probability measure in models that are of econometric interest. The approach utilizes generally valid asym...
