Ferroresonance Overvoltage Mitigation Using STATCOM for Grid-connected Wind Energy Conversion Systems

We present the ferroresonance overvoltage mitigation concerning power systems of grid-connected wind energy conversion (WECSs). WECS is considered based on a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG). Ferroreso-nance associated with single-pole outage line breaker mitigated by fast regulating reactive using static compensator (STATCOM). STATCOM controller introduced, in which two incorporated proportional-inte-gral (PI) controllers are optimally tuned modified flower pollination algorithm (MFPA) as an optimization technique. To show capability proposed mitigating overvoltage, test cases interconnection status transformer used DFIGs. The results that disturbance can occur for transformers installed farms although terminals interconnected, and neither side isolated. Furthermore, method succeeds improving system voltage profile speed turbine well protecting components against overvoltage.
