FELEing It: Developing a Rubric Through an Interdisciplinary Partnership to Support Graduate Students’ Writing Skills

Educational leadership demands that school leaders be able to communicate clearly and effectively in writing, both academically professionally. Leaders of a Master’s Leadership (M.Ed.) program at university the southeast United States established an interdisciplinary collaboration with university’s Faculty Writing Partners develop valid reliable rubrics assess graduate students’ writing abilities through critical task essays. The essays connect required internship experience each course targeted Florida Principal Standard (FPLS), coursework, scholarly research. However, objective performance measure for was lacking. Accordingly, criterion-referenced rubric developed to: 1) specify criteria relation grammar, mechanics, organization, 2) identify quality peer-reviewed research as evidence support clinical experience, 3) articulate personal strengths, weaknesses, plans improvement towards mastery FPLS, 4) provide consistency expectations feedback among professors adjunct instructors. demonstrated validity reliability, likely led consistently higher scores on and, most importantly, Examination (FELE). Résumé: Le en éducation exige que les cadres scolaires sachent communiquer clairement et efficacement sous forme écrite, tant au niveau pédagogique professionnel. Les responsables de la maîtrise éducationnel dans une université du sud-est des États-Unis ont établi interdisciplinaire avec programme « » à même afin développer critères valables fiables pour évaluer, moyen textes d’analyse critique, aptitudes rédaction leurs étudiants diplômés.
