Feeding Practices and Nutritional Status among Children Aged from Six to 23 Months in Western Province, Rwanda: A cross-sectional study

BackgroundRwandan children's nutritional status is characterized by higher undernutrition rates. Infant and young child feeding practices (IYCF) have a direct impact on how well-nourished youngsters under two years old are.ObjectivesThis study aimed to assess among children aged six 23 months in Nyabihu district.MethodsA cross-sectional was conducted 164 households having December 2020. A structured questionnaire used collect infants' practices. Using SPSS version 20.0, data were entered analysed. Binary logistic regression utilized identify association between status.ResultsBreastfeeding initiation within the first hour of life 94.5%, exclusive breastfeeding 79.9%. Complementary foods given timely 73.2% children, 47.6% had minimum meal frequency (MMF), 23.2% dietary diversity (MDD), 15.9% fed minimally acceptable diet (MAD). However, 4.3% wasted, 6.7% underweight, stunted. There no significant when variables passed binary regression-adjusted model.ConclusionComplementary remain suboptimal.
