Fecal Viral Load and Norovirus-associated Gastroenteritis
We report the median cDNA viral load of norovirus genogroup II is >100-fold higher than that of genogroup I in the fecal specimens of patients with norovirus-associated gastroenteritis. We speculate that increased cDNA viral load accounts for the higher transmissibility of genogroup II strains through the fecal-oral route.
متن کاملCorrelation of Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 Viral Load with Disease Severity and Prolonged Viral Shedding in Children
Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 virus causes severe illness, including pneumonia, which leads to hospitalization and even death. To characterize the kinetic changes in viral load and identify factors of influence, we analyzed variables that could potentially influence the viral shedding time in a hospital-based cohort of 1,052 patients. Viral load was inversely correlated with number of days after the ons...
متن کاملAssessment of HTLV-I proviral load, HIV viral load and CD4 T cell count in infected subjects; with an emphasis on viral replication in co-infection
Objective(s): HTLV-I and HIV virus quantification is an important marker for assessment of virus activities. Since there is a direct relationship between the number of virus and disease progression, HTLV- I and HIV co-infection might have an influence on the development of viral associated diseases, thus, viral replication of these viruses and co-infection were evaluated. Materials and...
متن کاملThe prevalence of bacterial and viral agents in fecal specimens of children in Shiraz
in the present study 220 diarrheal samples of children aged between 3-12 months and 100 samples from healthy individuals of the same age group reffered to Shiraz university hospitals were investigated for bacterial and viral agents.Electron microscopy methods were used for the viral investigations, while conventional techniques of bacteriology were used for isolation of bacterial agents.the prev...
متن کاملShedding light on the dynamics of endocytosis and viral budding.
E ndocytosis is used by eukaryotic cells to perform a wide range of functions, including the uptake of extracellular nutrients and the regulation of cell-surface receptors, as well as by toxins, viruses, and microorganisms to gain entry into cells (1). Endocytosis actually encompasses many different processes, such as phagocytosis of large ( 250 nm) particles as well as pinocytosis of large vol...
