Abstract This paper reports on Monte Carlo simulation results for future measurements of the moduli time-like proton electromagnetic form factors, $$|G_{E}|$$ | G E and $$|G_{M}|$$ M , using $$\bar{p} p \rightarrow \mu ^{+} ^{-}$$ p ¯ ? ? + - reaction at $$\overline{\text {P}}\text {ANDA}$$ P ANDA (FAIR). The factors are fundamental quantities parameterizing electric magnetic structure hadrons. work estimates statistical total accuracy with which can be measured an analysis simulated data within PandaRoot software framework. most crucial background channel is \pi ? due to very similar behavior muons pions in detector. suppression evaluated this all other relevant channels different values antiproton beam momentum. signal/background separation based a multivariate analysis, Boosted Decision Trees method. An expected subtraction included study, realistic angular distributions contribution. Systematic uncertainties considered relative factor presented.

Ratio of the proton electromagnetic form factors from meson dressing

The dressed K-matrix model, developed previously for lowand intermediate-energy Compton scattering, is generalized to calculate the photon-nucleon vertex with a virtual photon and an off-shell nucleon. This model was used to compute the ratio of the proton electromagnetic form factors. The calculated ratio is in excellent agreement with the ratio measured in polarized electron-proton scattering.
