Fear of Brain Drain: Russian Academic Community on Internationalization of Education

چکیده
The emigration of skilled and able workers from Russia markedly increased in the last five years, prompting Russian scholars to reassess phenomenon brain drain, its definition, scope, consequences causes. This article finds that perceived connection between increasing `brain drain’ internationalization higher education has played an important role recent debates. From analysis scholarly articles transcripts interviews with educators directly involved internationalization, this study despite evident concern amongst academic community about nexus is still seen as a perfect choice for individual who able. ambivalent attitude towards created situation where some academics use it justify their resistance assuming causal relationship two, while others, by word deed, support means curbing emigration. In context controversial educational reforms underway since 1990s, such perceptions have helped survive.
