چکیده

Remanufacturing has become popular as a system for reducing CO2 emissions caused by the life cycle of products. Therefore, producing more components via remanufacturing is important. Shot peening can be used to render surface defects harmless owing compressive residual stress effects. This study investigated effects shot means gears. In this study, carburized steel specimens containing artificial were investigate on fatigue strength; defect size was rendered peening. conducted after inducing semicircular slits with depths = 0.15, 0.20, and 0.30 mm. Subsequently, plane bending tests carried out. A maximum 1400 MPa induced The limit smooth specimen increased approximately 31% slit at least 0.20 mm deep could (SP). reduced SP evaluated basis fracture mechanics. estimated results are consistent experimental results. On results, feasibility method gears discussed.

Evaluation of Fatigue Strength Improvement by CFRP Laminates and Shot Peening onto the Tension Flanges Joining Corrugated Steel Webs

Corrugated steel web with inherent high out-of-plane stiffness has a promising application in configuring large span highway bridge girders. Due to the irregularity of the configuration details, the local stress concentration poses a major fatigue problem for the welded flange plates of high strength low alloy structural steels. In this work, the methods of applying CFRP laminate and shot peeni...

Shot Peening as an Alternative to Fatigue Life Improvement of CK45 Steel Coated with an Electroless Ni-Cu-P

The effect of an electroless Ni-Cu-P coating on the fatigue behavior of quenched and tempered CK45 steel has been investigated. The fatigue tests under rotating bending conditions have been conducted in three different conditions of uncoated, as-deposited and shot peened prior to the coating deposition. The results indicate that plating of the base steel leads to a fatigue life reduction. The d...

Corrosion Properties of 34CrMo4 Steel Modified by Shot Peening

A nanocrystalline layer was prepared on the surface of 34CrMo4 steel by time controlling shot peening (SP, i.e., 1, 5, 10, and 20 minutes). Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, and transmission electron microscope (TEM) were applied to analyze the surface, cross-sections, and grain size of the specimens before and after SP. The electrochemical c...

Side Effects of Shot Peening on Fatigue Crack Initiation Life

Shot peening beneficial effects on fatigue life of mechanical components are well known. However, there are some reports in the literature that indicate inappropriate shot peening parameters tend to reduce the fatigue life. It is therefore, the purpose of this study to find a logical quantitative justification for these observations. Using finite element method, a dynamic elastic-plastic simula...

Effect of Residual Stresses on Fatigue Strength of Severely Surface Deformed Steels by Shot Peening

The compressive stress distribution below the specimen surface of severely surface deformed steels by shot peening was investigated by using laboratory X-rays and high-energy X-rays from a synchrotron radiation source, SPring-8 in the Japan Synchrotron Radiation Research Institute. Medium carbon steel plates were heat treated in two different conditions. The Vickers hardness of material-A and B...
