چکیده
The present-day interest in the use of composite-steel joints primary marine structures requires an in-depth knowledge fatigue performance thick adhesive joints. This paper reports on experimental tests performed compliant (i.e., and ductile) based a two-component methyl-methacrylate unaged aged conditions. Bi-material double strap joint with bondlines is subjected to quasi-static loading, during which specimens are monitored by digital mage correlation infrared thermography techniques evaluate types extent damage that occur loading. S-N curve evaluated along its limit. It found fail due cohesive damage, hackles, disbond at adhesive-adherend interface delamination within composite. survived loading showed similar residual strength as were not loaded.

Evaluation of Fatigue Life Reduction Factors at Bolt Hole in Double Lap Bolted Joints Using Volumetric Method
In this research, the influence of bolt preload on the fatigue strength of 2024-T3 aluminium alloy double lap bolted joints has been studied experimentally and numerically. To do so, three sets of the specimens were prepared and each of them subjected to tightening torque of 1,2.5 and 5 N-m and then fatigue tests were conducted under various cyclic axial load levels. In the numerical method, th...
متن کاملFatigue damage in solder joints
Miniaturisation of electronic products is increasingly important for reasons of functionality enhancement and freedom of design. This is realised by integration into silicon and developing miniature packages with high I/O and power dissipation density. Generally this leads to elevated temperatures, not only in the components but also in the solder joints. Elevated temperature cycling leads to f...
متن کاملFatigue Life of Repaired Welded Tubular Joints
In this study, the effect of repair on fatigue life of tubular joints is investigated. Six cracked specimens precedently subjected to fatigue loading undergone to weld repair. Two of those specimens were shot peened before primary fatigue loading. It is shown that repair gives rise to about 150% increase in fatigue life for original specimens while the increase of fatigue life for shot-peened ...
متن کاملFatigue Life Prediction of Rivet Joints
Strength reduction in structures like an aircraft could be resulted as cyclic loads over a period of time and is an important factor for structural life prediction. Service loads are emphasized at the regions of stress concentration, mostly at the connection of components. The initial flaw prompting the service life was expected by using the Equivalent Initial Flaw Size (EIFS) which has been re...
متن کاملFailure assessment of steel/CFRP double strap joints
In the current study, the failure behavior of retrofitted steel structures was studied experimentally and theoretically with steel/CFRP double strap joints (DSJs) under quasi-static tensile loading. A series of DSJs with different bonding lengths are also considered and examined to experimentally assess the effective bond length. To predict the failure load values of the tested specimens, a new...
