Far UV-C radiation: An emerging tool for pandemic control
نویسندگان
چکیده
Far UV-C, informally defined as electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths between 200 and 230 nm, has characteristics that are well-suited to control of airborne pathogens. Specifically, UV-C been shown be highly effective for inactivation pathogens; yet this same minimal potential cause damage human skin eye tissues. Critically, unlike UV-B, does not substantially penetrate the dead cell layer (stratum corneum) reach germinative cells in basal layer. Similarly, through corneal epithelium eye, thereby preventing exposure within eye. The most common source is krypton chloride excimer (KrCl*) lamp, which a primary emission centered at 222 nm. Ozone production from KrCl* lamps modest, such indoor ozone these systems can accomplished easily using conventional ventilation systems. This set offers devices used occupied spaces, allowing improved effectiveness pathogens, including those responsible COVID-19.

New challenges to the safety of the food supply require new strategies for evaluating and managing food safety risks. Changes in pathogens, food preparation, distribution, and consumption, and population immunity have the potential to adversely affect human health. Risk assessment offers a framework for predicting the impact of changes and trends on the provision of safe food. Risk assessment m...

Recent developments in mobile technologies have produced a new kind of device: a programmable mobile phone, the smartphone. In this paper we argue that the technological and social characteristics of this device make it a useful tool in social sciences, particularly sociology, social psychology, urban studies, technology assessment and media studies. The device is willingly carried by a large f...
متن کاملEmerging infections: pandemic influenza.
The report of the Institute of Medicine's Committee on Emerging Microbial Threats to Health in the United States, published in 1992, defines influenza virus as the prototype emerging infection (1). Pandemics of influenza have been recognized since earliest recorded history and, because of the mutability of the virus, still represent a formidable threat to the health of the nation. Although much...
متن کاملC-C chemokine receptor type five (CCR5): An emerging target for the control of HIV infection☆
When HIV was initially discovered as the causative agent of AIDS, many expected to find a vaccine within a few years. This has however proven to be elusive; it has been approximately 30 years since HIV was first discovered, and a suitable vaccine is still not in effect. In 2009, a paper published by Hutter et al. reported on a bone marrow transplant performed on an HIV positive individual using...
