Factors Influencing the Practice of Breast Self-Examination among Female Tertiary Students in Ho, Ghana

Background. Despite the implementation of various interventions towards reduction breast cancer prevalence, many women still report late symptoms to health facilities, and this decreases their chances survival. Breast self-examination (BSE) is most convenient form examination detect development cancer. We examined factors that influence practice among female tertiary students in Ho, Volta Region Ghana. Methods. This was a descriptive cross-sectional study recruited 506 from four institutions Ho Municipality Ghana using questionnaires. Descriptive inferential statistics comprising frequency, percentage, Chi-square, binary logistic regression were used analyzing data. Results. About 73% respondents had ever practised BSE. Out who have practiced BSE, 79% practising it at time study. Students fourth year above 4 times more likely (95% CI = 1.73–9.29, p = 0.014 ) practise BSE than those first year.
