Factor XIII-A in Diseases: Role Beyond Blood Coagulation

نویسندگان

چکیده

Multidisciplinary research from the last few decades has revealed that Factor XIII subunit A (FXIII-A) is not only involved in blood coagulation, but may have roles various diseases. Here, we aim to summarize data studies involving patients with mutations F13A1 gene, performed FXIII-A knock-out mice models, clinical and histological assessing correlations between diseases severity levels, as well vitro experiments. By providing a complex overview on its possible role wound healing, chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, athe-rosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, lung rhinosinusitis, solid tumors, hematological malignancies, obesity, also demonstrate how field evolved using marker accept understand active malignant

Role of blood coagulation factor XIII in vascular diseases.

FXIII, also called fibrin-stabilising factor [1] , is a transglutaminase composed of two A subunits and two B subunits circulating in plasma as a tetramer (A2B2) (Figure 1). FXIII plays an important role in clot stabilisation by cross-linking fibrin chains [2] after activation by thrombin (Figure 1). In addition, a number of other proteins are substrates for activated FXIII, such as α2-antiplas...

A photometric assay for blood coagulation factor XIII.

An assay for a direct photometric determination of F XIII in untreated and undiluted plasma was developed. In a one-step procedure F XIII is activated by thrombin and Ca2+ and cross-links glycine-ethylester to a specific glutamine containing peptide substrate. The released ammonia is incorporated into alpha-ketoglutarate by glutamate dehydrogenase, and the NADH consumption of this reaction is m...

Advances of Coagulation Factor XIII

OBJECTIVE To provide a comprehensive literature review on roles of coagulation factor XIII (FXIII) in coagulation, wound healing, neoplasm, bone metabolism, and pregnancy. DATA SOURCES All articles in PubMed with key words "Coagulation factor XIII", "wound", "leukemia", "tumor", "bone," and "pregnancy" with published date from 2001 to 2016 were included in the study. A coagulation factor becomes useful in the study of acute leukemias: studies with blood coagulation factor XIII.

The intracellular form of the coagulation factor XIII has previously been identified by immunomorphological techniques using polyclonal antibodies. In these studies, only the A subunit (FXIII-A) was detectable in megakaryocytes/platelets and in monocytes/macrophages. We developed several novel monoclonal antibody clones directed to both subunits (FXIII-A and FXIII-B) and investigated their appe...

Inhibition of Fibrinolysis by Coagulation Factor XIII

The inhibitory effect of coagulation factor XIII (FXIII) on fibrinolysis has been studied for at least 50 years. Our insight into the underlying mechanisms has improved considerably, aided in particular by the discovery that activated FXIII cross-links α2-antiplasmin (α2AP) to fibrin. In this review, the most important effects of different cross-linking reactions on fibrinolysis are summarized....
