Fabrication, characterization, and gamma ray shielding properties of PVA-based polymer nanocomposite

Abstract An innovative cost-effective and lead-free polymer nanocomposite of polyvinyl alcohol/ pyrrolidone was developed. PVA/PVP film contained spherical AgCl SnO 2 nanoparticles facilely prepared via a one-pot synthesis method. The route affords uniform dispersion the both unique features insoluble, dense, nonporous properties. new achieved an efficient gamma radiation attenuation capability. capacity for photons investigated in terms linear mass coefficients (µ) (µ m ), respectively, at low high energies (using 60 Co 137 Cs sources). Other parameters such as half value layer (HVL), tenth (TVL), mean free path (MFP) were used to evaluate shielding capacity. Theoretical calculation (XCOM program) results consistent with obtained experimental results. revealed that essential thickness reduce γ-ray intensity 50% is 6.6, 8.9, 9.8 cm 662, 1173, 1332 keV energies, respectively. physio-chemical properties evaluated using spectroscopic, microscopic, thermal analysis tools. Additionally, formation elucidated TEM. FTIR leachability confirm stability, good durability, chemical resistivity synthesized nanocomposite. nano-filler mechanism discussed detail.
