Fabrication and characterization of printed zinc batteries

Zinc batteries are a more sustainable alternative to lithium-ion due its components being highly recyclable. With the improvements in screen printing technology, high quality devices can be printed with at throughput and precision lower cost compared those manufactured using lithographic techniques. In this paper we describe fabrication characterization of zinc batteries. Different binder materials such as polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) butyral (PVB), were used fabricate electrodes. The electrodes first evaluated three-electrode cyclic voltammetry, x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy before fully assembled tested charge-discharge test two-electrode voltammetry. results show that ZnO electrode PVB performed better than PVP-based ZnO. XRD data prove electro-active successfully transferred sample. However, based on evaluation, cathode was dominated by silver instead Ni(OH)2, which leads sample behave like silver-zinc battery nickel-zinc battery.
