Extreme Sub?Hourly Precipitation Intensities Scale Close to the Clausius?Clapeyron Rate Over Europe

چکیده
Over subhourly time scales, extreme precipitation events play a critical role for many sectors impacted by climate change; however, it is unclear how these will evolve in warmer climate. Here, we perform simulations using regional model over the greater Alpine region at kilometer-scale resolution. By analyzing intensities with short accumulation times, show that can capture observed percentiles of measured surface rain-gauge stations. Then, simulating future climate, associated increases intensity grow but tends asymptotically toward 6.5% per degree warming. This suggests most scale Clausius-Clapeyron scaling rate represents ability atmosphere to hold more water vapor. It should be expected changes lead increased risks flash flooding, land-slides, and erosion Europe

Climate Change Impact on Precipitation Extreme Events in Uncertainty Situation; Passing from Global Scale to Regional Scale
Global warming and then climate change are important topics studied by researchers throughout the world in the recent decades. In these studies, climatic parameters changes are investigated. Considering large-scaled output of AOGCMs and low precision in computational cells, uncertainty analysis is one of the principles in doing hydrological studies. For this reason, it is tried that investigati...

Estimating the Response of Extreme Precipitation over Mid-latitude
Global warming induced changes in extreme orographic precipitation are investigated using a hierarchy of models: a global climate model, a limitedarea weather forecast model, and a linear mountain-wave model. We consider precipitation changes over an idealized north-south mid-latitude mountain barrier at the western margin of an otherwise flat continent. The intensities of the extreme events on...
متن کاملProbabilistic high-resolution forecast of heavy precipitation over Central Europe
Abstract. The limited-area ensemble prediction system COSMO-LEPS has been running operationally at ECMWF since November 2002. Five runs of the non-hydrostatic limited-area model Lokal Modell (LM) are available every day, nested on five selected members of three consecutive 12-h lagged ECMWF global ensembles. The limited-area ensemble forecasts range up to 120 h and LM-based probabilistic produc...
متن کاملRepresentation of Extreme Precipitation Events Leading to Opposite Climate Change Signals over the Congo Basin
We investigate the reasons for the opposite climate change signals in precipitation between the regional climate model REMO and its driving earth system model MPI-ESM over the greater Congo region. Three REMO simulations following three RCP scenarios (RCP 2.6, RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5) are conducted, and it is found that the opposite signals, with REMO showing a decrease and MPI-ESM an increase in t...
