Extraction of cellulose from sugarcane bagasse via ultrasonic-assisted alkaline technology

چکیده

Ultrasonic-assisted alkaline (UAA) technology is applied to extract cellulose from lignocellulose biomass, sugarcane bagasse (SCB). The SCB a type of agriculture residue that consists about 50 %(w/w) content, thus potential serve as feedstock for production via UAA technology. Due the complex and sturdy structure lignocellulosic most current extraction processes in industry still apply multi-step involve chemical-mechanical technology, which time-consuming not eco-friendly. solve issue but details whole process are required its feasibility industry. performance investigated with varying parameters including ultrasonic amplitude (20%, 30%, 40%), treatment temperature (70 °C, 80 90 °C), potassium hydroxide (KOH) concentration (0.25 M – 1.25 M). highest purity cellulose, 83.22 obtained at an 30 % treated °C under KOH condition M. extracted further reacted sodium monochloroacetate form carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), degree substitution 0.3624. yield proved promising, implying applicability more future works.

Xylan extraction from pretreated sugarcane bagasse using alkaline and enzymatic approaches

Background New biorefinery concepts are necessary to drive industrial use of lignocellulose biomass components. Xylan recovery before enzymatic hydrolysis of the glucan component is a way to add value to the hemicellulose fraction, which can be used in papermaking, pharmaceutical, and food industries. Hemicellulose removal can also facilitate subsequent cellulolytic glucan hydrolysis. Results...

Extraction, Purification, and Characterization of Lignin Fractions from Sugarcane Bagasse

Three-step extraction of lignin fractions from ball-milled sugarcane bagasse (SCB) was studied with 96% dioxane, 50% dioxane, and 80% dioxane containing 1% NaOH at boiling temperature followed by purification to remove hemicelluloses. The total yields of hemicelluloses and lignin were 15.8% and 7.2% based on dried SCB, respectively. In the first step, 5.1% lignin (70.8% of the total extracted l...

Thermal Degradation Kinetics of Sugarcane Bagasse and Soft Wood Cellulose

The properties of untreated sugar cane bagasse (SCB) and soft wood (SW) and their respective celluloses were investigated. The celluloses indicated improved crystallinity index values and decreased concentration of lignin and hemicellulose compared to their untreated counterparts. Three degradation models, Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose (KAS), Flynn-Wall-Ozawa (OFW), and Kissinger (KGR) methods were ...

Extraction of Hemicellulose and Lignin from Sugarcane Bagasse for Biopolymer Films: Green Process

A hemicellulose is any of several heteropolymers , such as arabinoxylans, present along with cellulose in almost all plant cell walls. Hemicellulose has a random, amorphous structure with little strength. It is easily hydrolyzed by dilute acid or base as well as myriad hemicellulase enzymes. In this study, lignin and hemicellulose was extracted from sugarcane bagasse using the ammonium hydrolys...

Prospects of Cellulosic Ethanol from Sugarcane Bagasse

AGRICULTURAL residues such as grain straws and corn stover are abundant, readily available biomass feedstocks for the production of next generation biofuels, with collection and transport costs being a major component of their cost. Sugarcane bagasse is thus an especially attractive biomass feedstock in that it is an agricultural residue already present in large quantities at sugar and ethanol ...
