EXTRACTION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF BLACK BETEL LEAF (PIPER ACRE BLUME.) ESSENTIAL OILS FROM EAST KALIMANTAN

Objective: To determine the extraction technique and content of linalool, as dominant compound, in black betel essential oil from East Kalimantan using a validated analytical method.
 Methods: Extraction was carried out steam distillation. Essential oils were assessed by observing colour solubility ethanol. Using an Agilent GC-MS with 5977B (GCMSD) detector, DB-5MS column, helium gas carrier 1 ml/minute. The level compounds determined Results: had characteristics that met SNI standards. Based on results GC-MS, compound five samples linalool. Validation method following conditions established: injector temperature 250 °C, oven 40 °C 2 min holding time, reaching 125 10 340 time. resulted linearity 0.999; 1.637% relative standard deviation for precision; 102.27% recovery value accuracy; 0.4% LOD; 1.2% LOQ. percentage linalool found sample code MADSH 4 (10.56% 0.6169).
 Conclusion: distillation can be used to obtain meet is concentration 10.56% MADSH4 sample.
